Alves were born Rodrigo Alves on 30 July 1983 in Sao Paulo, Brazil, to an Brazilian mother and her British father. Roserval Alves was Roserval's father. Alves is Portuguese and came to Brazil in 1940. "The primary activity of the family was farming. Later, however, they added the retail industry and in property. Her father bought Barbie dolls to her while she was an infant. Alves was born male however, she believed that she should be female since her age of "three three, four, five or six".
